Understanding and Overcoming Psychological Resistance to Promote Environmental Behaviors
with Dr. Jessica M. Nolan
Date and Time: August 6th, 2009, 1 pm EST
Session Description: Resistance is central to persuasion. In this session, conservation psychologist, Dr. Jessica M. Nolan, will discuss the three types of psychological resistance that may undermine message effectiveness and share several techniques for overcoming resistance to promote sustainable behaviors on campus.
This conference call is brought to you by the Media Strategies for Sustainability initiative, a partnership sponsored by USPESD, HEASC, DANS and NCSPOD. The conference call is part of a larger series of international conference calls initiated in May, 2009.
You are invited to learn from experts who generously share their time, knowledge and experience through conference call chats and presentations. The goal of this initiative is to provide an opportunity for you to share and learn successful strategies for media engagement; to increase local and national coverage of sustainability efforts at your institution; and to learn more about innovations and learning from other institutions.
The conference calls are free and easy to access. All you need is a phone.
